Homestar™ is an energy and environmental rating tool for residential homes, which provides recommendations to help you make informed decisions about the best ways to improve the performance of the health and comfort of your home.
The Homestar™ report and recommendations should not be your only source of information when you are building or renovating your home.  They are a guide only.  Use the recommendations as a starting point for planning improvements and seek professional advice. Homestar™ recommends you obtain three quotes for any work or products.
Homestar™ has made every effort to ensure that the online assessment and website information are reliable and accurate but cannot guarantee that it is complete or up to date.  Homestar™ does not give any warranties regarding the material or facilities contained or referred to in this site, nor do we accept any liability for:  

  • any loss or damage whatsoever which may arise in any way out of the use of any of the material or facilities;
  • errors in or omissions from the material or facilities; or
  • the accuracy of any information obtained through use of this site.

We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993.
My Homestar™ lets you save the results from your Self Assessments, and review those assessments as you improve your home over time. If you choose to register with My Homestar™, your email address, password, Homestar™ Self Assessments and ratings will be stored on our secure database.
Homecoach™ assessments and Homestar™ certified assessments will collect personal information about you and your home in order to generate a rating and report. Your details, assessments and ratings will be stored in our secure database.
Any identifiable personal information saved in My Homestar™ or by Homecoach™ and/or in Certified Assessments will not be disclosed to any third parties unless you have specifically given permission to do so. You may choose to have your contact details passed to solution providers in order to receive advice and product information from them.
Information that you provide while using Homestar™ will be gathered to develop a database of information and statistics on the state of New Zealand’s housing stock. This will be valuable for research, informing government policy and measuring New Zealand’s progress towards better performing homes. The information gathered for this purpose will be aggregated and will not include any personal identifying details.
